Exercise helps keep your brain fit

Itis physical exercise that keeps your brain healthy with age and not mentalexercise like Sudoku or crosswords. As we age, the blood supply to the neurons,or brain cells, is reduced, starving them of the oxygen and glucose they need. Regularexercise increases the number of small blood vessels in the brain(capillaries), in turn boosting the supply of oxygen and glucose to neurons. Tobe effective, exercise needs to last more than 30 minutes per session, to occurseveral times a week and to bump up your heart rate but it does not need to beextremely tough (fast walking works fine).
